Purpose
To develop good shooting habits in players.
Procedure
Players will work in pairs and shoot 5-foot shots using only one hand.
Emphasis
In this drill players are working on the shooting stroke, keeping the elbow under the ball, wrist cocked, and shooting the ball from the finger pads – not the palm.
BEEF stands for Balance in Stance, Elbow (in), Eyes on the Mid Circle (greendot), and Follow Through. Players must begin in a crouched position (with ball slightly higher than “triple threat”). Players will come up on their toes and hold their follow through until the ball goes through the net.
Emphasis
BEEF shooting consists of three drills most often done in the following sequence:
A. BEEF–One Hand – trains elbow alignment, shoulder position, and follow through motion.
B. BEEF–Both Hands – trains shooting out of a “triple threat” position and moving the ball immediately
upward with no hesitation in the motion of the shot.
C. BEEF–Receiving – trains the footwork of of the shot. |
